Any person involved in international trade would rather have the safe delivery of a consignment than be involved in an insurance claim. However, because of the risks involved in international trade, claims do arise all the time and it is important that when this happens the insurance that has been taken out is such that the claim will be met. It is; therefore, very important that great care is given to arranging the insurance, particularly under an open cover. The failings in any type of cover will probably only become evident when a claim is being made and then it will be too late. Cover should always be as comprehensive as possible and should be drawn up in such a way that it meets the particular individual requirements of the company.
