Operating Cargo Handling Gear may be the responsibility of the owner under gross terms and in reality will usually mean that specialist labour will be employed at their cost.

It is very unlikely that ship’s personnel will be allowed to drive the cranes or derricks where local union or safety regulations require that local labour is employed.
