Hong Kong based shipowner and ship manager Taylor Maritime bought two Japanese built handysize bulk carriers from Copenhagen based J. Lauritzen. Taylor Maritime paid $9.5 million apiece for 2010 built sisterships 31K DWT MV Emma Bulker and MV Louise Bulker. MV Emma Bulker and MV Louise Bulke sale price is in line with previously reported Japanese built handysize bulk carriers of a similar age.
Similarly, Greek shipowner and operator Oryx Shipping acquired 2010 Japanese built handysize dry bulk carrier 29K DWT MV Trade Star for about $9.2 million.
Hong Kong based shipowner and ship manager Taylor Maritime acquired 10 secondhand bulk carriers during 2018. Taylor Maritime CEO Edward Buttery explained that he does not a believer in the cost of newbuildings today. CEO Edward Buttery is the supporter of older, well-maintained Japanese built bulk carriers. Up to now, all Taylor Maritime acquisitions were handysize bulk carriers, including 5 open-hatch bulk carriers and one supramax bulk carrier.
