Singapore based dry bulk carrier operator DCC Bulk Transport is in the process of liquidation. Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulating Authority lists DCC Bulk Transport as in liquidation. DCC Bulk Transport is also listed as the subject of a compulsory winding up insolvency process.

DCC Bulk Transport is the commercial management arm of the Greek Halkias Group. DCC Bulk Transport was established by Constantino Halkias, CEO of Meandros Lines and Westgate Tankships.

Singapore based dry bulk carrier operator DCC Bulk Transport began its operation in 2016 with six (6) chartered-in dry bulk carriers and in 2017 increased its fleet to 18 dry bulk carriers after a tie-up with a major European pension fund.

DCC Bulk Transport signed up COA (Contracts of Affreightment) and forward cargo contracts with large alumina, fertilizer, and cement firms when it established.

Greek shipowner and operator Sea Gate Navigation Ltd acquired third Japanese built capesize dry bulk carrier in nine months. Dimitris and George Stefanou-led Sea Gate Navigation bought 2006 built 185K DWT MV Andros Navigator (ex MV Cape Dover) from Japan’s K Line for around $22 million. MV Andros Navigator (ex MV Cape Dover) was built at Japanese shipyard Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Dimitris and George Stefanou brothers are controlling capesize dry bulk carriers via Sea Gate Navigation Ltd and other dry bulk carriers are controlled via sister company Bright Navigation. Bright Navigation currently manages 5 panamax and 1 ultramax dry bulk carriers. Sea Gate Navigation, Star Bulk Carriers, Bulkseas, Times Navigation are the top companies that acquired capsize dry bulk carriers in 2018. Greek shipowner and operator have spent around $57 million in total for 3 capesize dry bulk carriers. Sea Gate Navigation Ltd, previously acquired 2006 built 176K DWT MV Andros Glory (ex MV NSS Grandeur) and 2003 built 171K DWT MV Andros Beauty (ex MV Aquabeauty). Dimitris and George Stefanou are coming from Greek island Andros.

Bremen based MPP (MultiPurpose) ship operator dship Carriers has ordered two (2) MPP ships at Taizhou Sanfu Shipyard in China. dship Carriers picked up F-500 type Eco Traders which will join the fleet in Q1 and Q3 2019. MultiPurpose vessels F-500 type has been developed to reduce fuel consumption and to increase stowage flexibility.

Athens-based shipowner and operator W Marine has recently been identified as the purchaser of the modern (2011-built) post-panamax bulk carrier MV Talia for an estimated $17.2 million. The sale was orchestrated by Silvia Zacchello, the head of Marwave Shipmanagement, a Dutch company that operates commercially under Marwave and technically under Ishima. This transaction comes at a time when the dry bulk market is experiencing an upturn, allowing the seller to secure a favorable sale price. Silvia Zacchello has indicated that Marwave Shipmanagement is gradually shifting its focus towards the tanker segment, anticipating improvements and growth within this sector in the foreseeable future. This strategic realignment reflects Marwave Shipmanagement’s adaptive approach to market dynamics and its intention to capitalize on emerging opportunities in tanker management. W Marine, established by Yiannis Sarantitis in 2003, is steadily expanding its presence in the bulk carrier market. With the acquisition of MV Talia, W Marine’s fleet now consists of eight bulk carriers, including three panamax and five post-panamax vessels. Japanese shipowner and operator Doun Kisen KK (aka Doun Kisen Co. Ltd) sold 2009 built supramax bulk carrier 55K DWT MV Eleen Neptune (ex MV Bulk Neptune) to Bulgarian commodity trader Eleen Marine for around $15 million. In 2009, Japanese shipowner and operator Doun Kisen KK (aka Doun Kisen Co. Ltd) got the delivery of MV Eleen Neptune (ex MV Bulk Neptune) from Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding. Bulgarian commodity trader Eleen Marine has invested in two (2) supramax bulk carriers and Eleen Marine aims to more than double the company’s’ fleet next year. Bulgarian commodity trader Eleen Marine cooperates with Varna-based Meteor Management Bulgaria as the company’’s shipmanager.

Athens-based W Marine, under the leadership of shipowner Yiannis Sarantitis, has decided to utilize its option for the construction of an additional 82K DWT kamsarmax bulk carrier at Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding in China. This decision follows W Marine’s initial order for a similar 82K DWT kamsarmax bulk carrier at the same shipyard in February. The newly ordered vessel is slated for delivery in June 2020, marking a strategic expansion in the company’s fleet capabilities. Founded in 2013 by Yiannis Sarantitis, W Marine has been actively managing a diverse fleet of eight bulk carriers, which includes three kamsarmax bulk carriers and five post-panamax bulk carriers. This latest move to exercise the building option not only signifies W Marine’s growth trajectory but also its confidence in the kamsarmax segment as a key area for its operational focus. The addition of another kamsarmax vessel to its fleet demonstrates W Marine’s commitment to strengthening its position in the global shipping industry through strategic fleet enhancement.

Currently, Fafalios Shipping SA manages a fleet consisting of four bulk carriers, each averaging 14 years of age. The latest addition to their fleet is the 2011-built 61K DWT MV Nord Crest, the first bulk carrier built after 2010 to join Fafalios Shipping SA. The company invested approximately $19.5 million in the supramax bulk carrier MV Nord Crest. This acquisition occurred just one month after Fafalios Shipping SA sold another long-standing member of its fleet, a bulk carrier that had been with the company since 2001. In early August, Fafalios Shipping SA completed the sale of the vintage panamax bulk carrier MV Alkyon for about $9.7 million, a move indicative of ongoing fleet renewal efforts. Founded in Piraeus in September 1968, Fafalios Shipping SA has a long-standing specialization in managing dry bulk carriers ranging from 8,000 to 130,000 DWT. Over the years, Fafalios Shipping SA has overseen the construction of more than 20 new bulk carriers, from forest product carriers to panamax bulk carriers. Today, under the leadership of Dimitrios Fafalios, the company continues to specialize in the management of dry bulk carriers, offering a comprehensive array of services. Turkish shipowner and operator Manta Denizcilik acquired 2000 built handysize dry bulk carrier 31K DWT MV Neva (ex MV Boka) for around $7 million from Monaco based Dabinovic. Manta Denizcilik acquired four (4) handysize dry bulk carriers between 2017 and 2018. With the acquisition of MV Neva (ex MV Boka) Turkish shipowner and operator Manta Denizcilik increased its fleet to nine (9) ships. MV Neva (ex MV Boka) was built at Japanese shipyard Hakodate like all other latest acquisitions. Manta Shipping was established by Mecit Cetinkaya and currently controlled by his descendants.
