The contract pertains to the 2013 built panamax bulk carrier MV Ismene. The commencement of the charter is scheduled for March 7 and is expected to extend between October 15 and December 15, 2021. The agreed gross charter rate amounts to $16,500 per day, which represents a substantial enhancement compared to the previous charterer, British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd, who was paying $10,800 per day. Athens-based, Nasdaq-listed Diana Shipping, renowned for its fleet comprising 37 bulkers, anticipates generating approximately $3.6 million throughout the minimum duration of the time charter. 27-February-2021

Simeon Palios-led Diana Shipping anticipates earning $3.31 million in one year from Phaethon International deal. Previously, 2001 built panamax bulk carrier 75K MV Oceanis was chartered out to Ausca Shipping at $10,350 per day for a year. In September 2019, Sinotrans Shipping chartered out 2012 built panamax bulk carrier 75K DWT MV Great Hope to Sino East Transportation for a year at $12,500 per day. In January 2020, the average one-year time-charter rate for panamax bulk carriers stands at $10,375 per day, down from $12,850 per day in September 2019. Athens-based, Nasdaq-listed Diana Shipping’s has a fleet of 41 dry bulk carriers. Phaethon International chartered in 2013 built panamax bulk carrier 77K MV Ismene for a year at $10,800 per day. Phaethon International is going to pay around $4.21 million in total during the panamax charter period. Simeon Palios-led Diana Shipping has fixed two (2) panamax bulk carriers to Phaethon International in two days. Yesterday, Phaethon International chartered in 2001 built panamax bulk carrier 75K MV Oceanis from New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping for a year at $9,200 per day. Diana Shipping’s three (3) other panamax bulk carriers in its fleet will be available in a few weeks. Besides MV Oceanis, Ukraine based ship operator Phaethon International also chartered in 2006 built panamax bulk carrier 75K DWT MV Naias through April 2021 at $10,000 per day from Diana Shipping. Currently, panamax bulk carriers one-year time charter rates are around $10,375 per day. British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd. chartered in 2004 built panama bulk carrier 73K DWT MV Protefs from New York listed Diana Shipping for a period of 13 to 16 months for gross daily rate of $9,900, minus 5% commission. MV Protefs’ charter is expected to commence on 27 November 2019. Since September 2018, MV Protefs was on timecharter to Hudson Shipping and was earning a gross daily rate of $11,000, minus 3.75% commission. In another deal, New York listed Diana Shipping chartered out 2013 built post-panamax bulk carrier 87K DWT MV Electra to Oldendorff Carriers for 11 to 13 months for a gross daily rate of $10,250, minus a 5% commission. Last year, MV Electra was on timecharter to Uniper Global Commodities at a gross daily rate of $13,500. Phaethon International Company is a British Virgin Islands-registered company operating out of Ukraine with a fleet of chartered bulk carriers. Phaethon International Company use the company names such as Phaethon International Company Ltd., Phaethon International Company AG, Phaethon International Company S.A. in British Virgin Islands, Panama, and Switzerland. New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping has recently entered into a fresh time charter agreement with Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company for the 2001 built panamax bulk carrier MV Danae. The charter commenced as of yesterday and is set to last between 11 to 14 months, with a daily rate of $8,100. Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International currently has three Diana panamax bulk carriers under the charter and previously paid a daily rate of $10,000 for the 2001 built panamax bulk carrier MV Danae. New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping has stated that this new charter will yield approximately $2.67 million in revenue, based on the minimum duration of the time charter. 5-February-2019

 

New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping has announced the sale of 2001 built panamax bulk carrier MV Alcyon for around $7.5 million. The sale follows last week’s sale of another 2001 built panamax bulk carrier MV Triton, for around $7.3 million. Scheduled for delivery to the buyer on January 7, the sale leaves the New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping with a fleet of 48 bulkers. Diana Shipping has also announced fixtures for two of its panamax bulk carriers. Ausca Shipping in Hong Kong has extended its time charter contract for 2001 built panamax bulk carrier MV Oceanis until the first quarter of 2020 at $10,350 per day. Ausca Shipping had been paying $7,000 per day for the MV Oceanis. Additionally, the 2005 built panamax bulk carrier MV Clio has been chartered by Ausca Shipping for a period of 10-13 months at a rate of $10,600 per day. MV Clio has been delivered to Ausca already, having come off charter to British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd at $8,550 per day. 12-November-2018

 

British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd. chartered in 2006 built panamax bulk carrier 73K DWT MV Naias from New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping for a gross charter rate of $10,000 per day, minus a 5% commission. Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International chartered MV Naias for 15 and 18 months. Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International will take the delivery of MV Naias on 24 November. Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International will pay around $4.35 million for the minimum length of the time charter. 15-November-2017

 

Greek shipowner and operator Merchant Marine Management 2010 built post panamax dry bulk carrier 91K DWT M/V Americana is detained in Singapore by mortgagee bank HSH Nordbank for $34 million. M/V Americana current value is about $16 million. In 2015, M/V Americana was detained by charterers Phaethon International in a dispute over bunker payments. 6-July-2017

Panama, Switzerland, Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company chartered in 2005 built panamax bulk carrier 74K DWT MV Clio between 13 and 16 months from New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping. Phaethon International Company will take the delivery of the 2005 built panamax bulk carrier 74K DWT MV Clio on 3 July. Phaethon International Company AG will pay around $3.33 million over the minimum period to New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping. 22-June-2017

 

Glencore Agriculture chartered in 2013 built kamsarmax dry bulk carrier 81K M/V Astarte for 17 months $9,000 per day from Simeon Palios-led New York-listed Diana Shipping. Glencore Agriculture charter will begin on June 12, 2017. M/V Astarte charter is one of the longest dry bulk carrier charter since March 2017. In April 2017,  Simeon Palios-led New York-listed Diana Shipping bought M/V Astarte from Greek shipowner Thenamaris. Diana Shipping also chartered out 2004 built panamax bulk carrier 74K M/V Erato to Phaethon International for $7,250 per day. Currently, Baltic Exchange estimates panamax spot rates at $6,820 per day but panamax dry bulk carrier rates are expected to rise in the near future. 25-May-2017

 

British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company requested the arrest of 2012 built heavy load carrier 15K DWT MV Korex SPB which is controlled by CJ Korea Express due to a chartering dispute. 2012 built heavy load carrier 15K DWT MV Korex SPB was arrested in Singapore by the demand of Phaethon International Company. High Court of Singapore shows that the Phaethon International Company’s claim amount was in the region of $316,000. 1-February-2017

 

Angelicoussis-led Anangel Maritime has secured a time charter for one of the company’s capesize bulk carriers for a period of four to eight months, amidst the surging rates in the spot market. MV Anangel Argonaut has been chartered to Jiangsu Steamship at a daily rate of $10,500, with the cape scheduled to promptly deliver its cargo in China. This agreement is one of several short-term capesize period fixtures observed in response to the escalating spot rates.
Interestingly, the period rate remains unchanged compared to the previous week when British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd chartered Ceres Shipping controlled 2015 built capesize bulk carrier 182K DWT MV Red Sage. In the present market, the Baltic Dry Index has risen by 36 points since Friday, reaching 836, which effectively corrects the dip in chartering activity witnessed last week.

British Virgin Islands-registered Ukraine-based ship operator Phaethon International Company Ltd. has secured the time charter of a panamax bulk carrier, owned by New York-listed shipowner and operator Diana Shipping, for a duration of up to eight months at a daily rate of $5,250, as per the Baltic Exchange data. 2006 built panamax bulk carrier 74K DWT MV Coronis will be delivered to the charterer in Donguan, located in southern China, sometime between May 25-30. 2006 built panamax bulk carrier 74K DWT MV Coronis can be redelivered anytime until February 18, 2017. The current daily rate represents a 24% reduction compared to what MV Coronis was earning during its previous employment with Sandgate Maritime. The charterer had initially booked the MV Coronis in July 2015 at a gross rate of $6,500 per day. However, the contract concluded earlier than anticipated when Sandgate Maritime redelivered the MV Coronis on March 19 of this year, rather than the scheduled date of April 3. 19-May-2016

In 2014, Italian shipowner and operator Augustea acquired the MV ABY Scarlett for around $44 million.
